Just a couple of pics to share of our turkey girl and her eggs. We built a new temporary greenhouse for the winter and today we were adding compost to one of the beds so we could plant tomorrow and, as turkey always does, she came in to help us dig ... and eat a few grubs and bugs

Her eggs have grown in size. The first was three days ago and weighed about 2 1/2 oz, then yesterday she laid another one that was 3 1/2 oz, and today she sat on her nest for quite awhile and then laid another one that was 4 1/2 oz. I just hope she lays next spring after we get her a mate so that we can have some babies to hatch.

Omelet anyone??

I have a couple of hens like that. I hatched them this year and they are on the line of being pests!

If i'm working with tools, they take screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches, ect. The do jump onn the 4-wheeler and golf cart and go for a ride with me! Here is one of them. They are both golden narragansettes.

My great Uncle had a pet turkey, I was very young so not sure on the variety. He would be working under his car and tell the turkey to bring him a wrench (probably to get the turkey to quit pestering him). The turkey would leave and come back with a screw driver. He always gave it an apple even though it couldn't get the tools right...

erinszoo, is she a Broad Breasted?

She's a WH from his sig. They can be big pests when they are that tame but my pair will live a long life as pets! My 4 year old boy calls them the "goofball girls!"

I hear you there on them being pests... I didn't notice the sig line, thank you. Those legs and feet just look really thick for a WH. At least compared to the ones that I got from Kevin Porter...

Yep, she's a white holland ... 17 lbs with blue eyes and the blue head when she's in full color. Love those turkey pics in the cart for a ride. Ours would probably do something like that too if we had something small she could ride on. The only time she's really a pest is when she lays down on our feet or right in the middle of a doorway and won't move. She's definitely become a pet.
