Our female turkey was chirping all day yesterday, and when I looked outside there was a female wild turkey was there. Any ideas on why? My guess is she wanted another girl, either for company, or she wanted someone else to lay on her eggs. She's got seven so far, hasn't laid on them yet, but we know they don't usually lay on them til she has the number she wants. Anyway, any other ideas on why she came, or why she was called. When we went outside she always ran off into the woods, but she always came back. We gave her some food. Haven't seen her yet today.

If you have a tom, it was probably his gobbling that brought the wild hen in. She is probably looking to breed. Once she has done that, she is likely to make a hidden nest, hatch poults and leave.

My toms have called in numerous wild hens over the years. The pattern I described is what they all did. One particular hen came in for 7 years in a row.

That was what I thought too, but he hasn't made much noise at all for the past few days. He's recovering from an injury currently. But she's been chirping and cooing? a lot.
