(is "chicken chicks" a word?)

I haven't bought hatchery birds, but have let my own birds go broody this spring for the first time. But it's been a frustrating year trying to keep my Red Bourbon turkey chicks alive and yet, nearly every single one of my chicken-chicks has been hardy and vigorous from the get-go.

I'm deciding that chickens are much hardier. Would you'all agree?

Also, if a chicken mom accidentally steps on her chick, it's not major, but if a turkey mom steps on a turkey chick, it can do serious damage because they're so huge.

The turkey chicks I raised in a brooder have had a 30% mortality rate, but the ones raised by moms have had a 60%
mortality rate.
