I am in the process of building a 12' x 16' turkey coop, and put a wall down the
middle to divide the coop into 2 6' x 8' coops with a door in the dividing wall to
allow access to each side. I will have seperate turkey doors for each side of
the coop. My plan with the dividing wall is to seperate breeds or Toms from Hens
when needed. The question I am trying to find the answer to is should the
dividing wall be solid...turkeys on one side cannot see turkeys on the otherside of the
wall or is it ok to have a 3 foot half wall with chicken wire the rest of the way to the ceiling? I think this would allow for the best ventilation, but I am not sure if
the different Toms/breeds can see each other thru the chicken wire will that cause issues? Most of the time I would think the turkeys will just be in the coop to roost at
night, and will be outside in the runs or pasture during the day. May lock up during
breeding season trios...etc.
Any thoughts on the dividing wall...?
