I had 2 white heritage about 6 months old. They was raise together since birth. Last week 1 of them randomly died. I went out to coop and she was dead. There in a pen with about 22 other chickens and 1 other sister turkey. All are fine. No diseases, no issues, very health birds. Last night after church when i was locking coop up i noticed my other turkey wasnt there. I found her laying down under a tree. I picked her up and she was very lethargic and wouldnt extended her feet to stand up. After a bit she would stand on her own and i got her to drink. She passed sometime through the night. But the werid part is she went to the exact spot in the coop that her sister had died eariler in the week. Ive heard of animals grieving themselfs to death. Just trying to get some opinions. Thanks Tyler

Turkeys can get depressed and die from it.

I suspect that you may be dealing with something else though as a grieving turkey can last longer than a few days.

If you are living in an area where blackhead is a problem, keeping turkeys with or on the same ground that chickens have been on can be a death sentence for the turkeys.

Chickens can be a carrier for blackhead but it can be lethal to turkeys.

It was about 6 days Maybe a week between deaths. I will look into the black head disease and see what it says. But both birds where experiencing zero symptoms of anything. They both follow me around like a dog in the yards. Feathers where nice, head color was spot on. Just seemed like it dropped dead.

Turkeys can be fine up until they catch blackhead. If untreated they die fairly quickly.
