I have had a Tom for about a year. He's wonderful. I got a female about his age this morning. I have her in the avery so they could get to know each other through the fence. I put him in there a while ago and she's attacking him. Pulling on his head. I removed him, how long should I wait to put then in the pen together?

It took a long time for my hen to stop attacking my Tom when I introduced them. They were separated by chicken wire for over a month, and still she would attack viciously when he was penned with her.. I let them free range together which went well for the most part, but penning was awful to watch. Chickens are much easier to introduce in my limited experience.

Penned him successfully the day hen started sitting. She accepted him no problems whatsoever. Later, she stopped sitting, and went back to chasing him for a bit, but not nearly with the same intensity so I let it go. They are ok now. Actually the roles are reversed now that he's mature - he's chasing her at times now, and he fights back if she starts anything. :)

I introduced them again this evening. She acted a fool for awhile but I caught her and petted her until she was calm. So far so good. Lol

My tom is so very sweet and not aggressive in the least bit. My chickens are constantly plucking his feathers. My turkey hens have been great and we got them all together. Tonight one of my hens attacked my tom and was pecking at his head. We have them separated for the night but I have no idea what caused the change. My hens has always been sweet. We have handled them all since day one. Any advice?
