Who knows anything about turkeys? Well, this is Tommi's back side under her wing. There is a hole inside her about 3 x 5 inches round. I can literally put my fist inside of it. It's all black and isn't bleeding at all. She acts like nothing is wrong. Anyone have any idea what happened or how we can help her? I tried the vet at OSU but I would have to take her to Marysville. Other than that I haven't found anyone else who handles turkeys.

It sounds like she was injured by a tom in a mating attempt. I would clean the area up and apply Blu Kote or something similar. I would keep her separated from any toms until well after she has healed.

I agree it sounds like a mating injury. I have had a few bad ones that have healed up after a while. The hen will keep the wound clean by picking at it. If it's really deep we didn't use bluekote, but either way I think is fine.

I have found that trimming the toms toe nails stops it. One year I trimmed only the spurs and it still happened, when we trimmed both nails and spurs the injuries stopped, so every spring the boys get a pedicure.
