Help!! My turkey egg pipped its shell at midday today. I cleared a tiny bit of shell and membrane away from his beak, he was a mail order egg and his brother died this morning after descending into an abnormal air sack and suffocated. I've panicked and helped this wee guy a bit and opened his shell a tiny bit so he can breathe (no veins ruptured), and rubbed a bit of olive oil on the membrane to stop him drying out. He was cheeping a couple of hours ago, now hes just slowly gasping.... should I get him out or leave him??

I've posted 3 desperate posts today about my turkey eggs and not 1 reply. 1 has since died, the other is in the process of its last breaths. I really needed you guys advice and you've let me down :(

Sorry not everyone is up at 6 am, or even online. That's what time you posted in my time zone.
Every human baby does not survive, every poultry baby does not survive.
There wasn't anything anyone could really do to help you, and I'm sorry. :(
When hatching eggs a lot of chicks die in various stages, even after hatch. It's sad, but hatching is not for people faint of heart. Same with farming, we see death almost every day. It's sad but you get a little used to it or you find a new job.
The bigger the eggs are the harder on the chicks it is to hatch when they are shipped. If you can try to find eggs closer to you if you think you can try try again.
