Hello! Unfortunately the video I made is not supported but it gives more information. Turkey people, long story short, this little one had a whole lot going on when it came into my care but the dramatic splayed legs after a week in a hobble was greatly improved! Then after about 3 days of walking on its own I peeked in and one leg was cattywampus again, so it went back into the hobble. It's been a whole week and its right leg appears to be damaged beyond my abilities to assist, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help this little one regain proper positioning of its leg?

Neither leg is great but the right one is really bent quite the wrong way, stands and walks knock kneed but without the hobble the right leg is out of control. I hear a clicking in the joint above the hocks, I guess what would be the "knee." The pictures actually show the left leg sticking out but it was shifting its weight and it's the right hock that's the biggest problem. Pics also look like the hobble maybe causing the knees to bow in but I have wrapped it carefully and there is plenty of room for them to move outward. I think other damage is causing the knock kneed effect, which is why it needed the hobble in the first place.

Any tips are much appreciated! This little one was dubbed "Rambo" by its original family because it has survived incredible odds! It's my baby now. 🥰

I know very little about turkeys, more about chickens, but that looks to be varus valgus leg deformity which is not treatable. Of course you could try the leg hobble to keep legs closer together. That one yours has is valgus, where they legs have a knock kneed appearance. It can be in one leg or both. It is very common in meat birds and turkeys, unfortunately. You may also want to post on the turkey forum under “Forums” above. In the phot below picture C is valgus deformity.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the information! This is my first turkey and I've never done meat birds so I'm glad to learn this! I will try to find the turkey forum. ;) Thanks!
