Hello,
Im Leslie and new to this. I have ducks but decided to buy two turkey poults at the feed store. Well, one died a few days later...was week etc. They have electrolytes and vitamins in water. I worried about the second as it got unthrifty looking and started hand feeding it boiled egg yolk which I read would get them vitamins and starting to eat. I also bought another turkey poult for company. Anyway, the first poult is loving the yolk, but still doesn't seem to understand the crumble. Thought this new chick would show him, but he isnt getting it. All he eats is boiled egg yolk! These are pets and I dont want to loose them but i dont know how to get them to eat??? Any advice?

Hi @Ibleslie Welcome to BYC,
I'm sure you will get very good advice here...

Could it be you feed him so much egg yolk, he's not hungry anymore?
Thanks...well,now he eats crumble but only when its in my hand! I try tapping bowl, but he still wont eat from the bowl or the chicken feeder!

I had two turkey poults that would not eat the crumbles. So we made a mash out of it and warmed it up a little. And it was like giving candy to a kid. They started eating with no problems.
Hope this helps.

Recently we had a few poults that couldn't get the crumble pieces down so, we mashed it up and they seemed to go for it. Now a few weeks old they can handle it no problem.

Hi Leslie Welcome!!!
My turkey poults didn't seem to interested in the game bird food either. i am now mixing the game bird feed and chick starter crumble and sprinkling some of the Strong Animals First Peep Boost and Balance and they love it. And seem to be thriving great on it.

You should really get a few more poults or chicks to teach it how to eat. The fewer the poults you start with the harder it can be for them to learn how eat and drink. Are you using pine shavings or paper towels as its floor?

Thanks, they are doing fine now and eating well. I do have them on pine shavings. Is that bad?
