Hello! There was a pit bull someone dropped off around here. Many of our chickens and two of our guineas were killed. One of our beloved turkeys was so badly injured, we had to put her down. Our other turkey is mourning her loss and I believe is also going through trauma. He is still allowing me to pet him, but does not lay down and fall asleep like he usually does. He is also calling for her at night. Has anyone had any experience with this? Does anyone know how to help him heal emotionally?

If possible, get some more hens to keep him company.

Sorry about your loss. I have lost more poultry to other people's dogs than to any other predator.

Oh man. Poor guy. R2elk is right. Try to find him some company. May be tough this time of year....

I think the dog problem needs to be resolved before getting more turkeys. Otherwise it's just more turkey dinner.
