Turkey treats

DEM.- OH MY GOODNESS! That japaneese beetle idea is INCREDIBLE!!!! Absolutely perfect......yes, we have those here. I've never used the traps because I've been told they bring in more bettles than they catch, but I didn't put out a garden this year so I could care less....but what a PERFECT solution.... I could have a big bag full of treats without doing any work...they'd come to ME! ha. I've seen those traps in others yards and they are usually overflowing. So unless anyone here has any reason why japaneese bettles wouldn't make the perfect turkey treat, then I'm all set. I also appreciate the previous suggestion as well....I'd NEVER have thought of things like grapes, dandilion leaves, and the other things listed. And since it obviously makes sense to feed a variety of things, that will help. And to be clear, we are talking about turkey "treats" here so all of these things will be occasional "bonuses" and not a staple for them.
THe suggestion to include some grit for them was another great one.....I knew chickens needed grit and even eat small gravel sometimes for that, but for some dumb reason I hadn't thought about that for turkeys....I'm going to buy some today at the local feed store.

Cityman,

Personally I think that your doing the best you can in the situation you've been presented with. I like the whole hen decoy/turkey call thing. Keep up the good work and let us know how this all turns out. I have rehabbed a few critters and have returned them to the wild although they were squirrels and raccoons, neither were hard to get to go back to where they belong. Raccoons were downright nasty and the squirrels couldn't wait to leave.
