Turkeys for 4H-Best Hatchery and Breed

Hi My siblings want to raise turkeys for 4h, but I live in Alaska, so I will need to order from an out of State Hatchery.
Which hatcheries sell the hardy/quality turkeys? annnd ship to AK?

Also, I believe the Broad Breasted Bronze non-heritage turkey is my best bet as far as weight/show is concerned-but I wanted to check with my peeps on BYC to see if I’m on the right track with that.

Definitely go with a Broad Breasted variety if your hope is to show them at your local fair. That is primarily what 4H members show as far as turkeys.

That being said we have had great luck with Cackle Hatchery turkeys being very vigorous and growing well for us. We have bought them in the past (last 2 years) when my kids participated. Cackle has a 10% 4H discount if you order by phone, PLUS they do ship to Alaska, though it does look like they may charge an extra fee for those orders.
