Can we winter our 2 Mallards (1 male and 1 female) and 1 East Indies ducks with our 2 male turkeys? We need the duck pen for our free range chickens that keep getting taken off by a hawk, we think.

Well, IMO, it kind of "depends" on a couple of things -- will they harm each other (probably not). More importantly, can you keep it clean? Ducks are much more "foul" than upland birds, because of their wet feces. If you can keep it clean, it should be OK.

Funny, I was wondering the same thing. I plan on getting 2 turkeys this week. I don't have a set up for them yet but was thinking of putting the two turkey hens in with my runner ducks. I only have 2 females and 3 males. The ducks don't use there coop other then to lay an egg and that's it. Otherwise they stay in there pool or just stay outside. I have no doubt the ducks will try to chase the turkeys though. Yeah, like there mouths will ever hurt anything..... BaHAhahah!

I raised some ducks with turkeys from the batot to the brooder to a big pen. It was all good until the turkeys were about 9 months. One day I went out and a duck was dead! Didn't look beat up so I didn't think much about it. A few weeks later, I heard my female duck really making a fuss. I went to the pen and the turkeys were really beating the hell out of her. I went into the 30X30 pen to help her and my drake was dead and the hen was badley pecked and they had pecked one of her eyes out!!!!!! These turkeys have ever ben agressive to people or anything else. You can do it if you want but I will never put ducks with turkeys again, Also, the one eyed hen is doing great!
