I got this giant wardrobe off of Craigslist for free and I'm planning on turning it into a coop.
I live in the city in a very moderate climate -- no real predators or weather concerns to worry about. My last flock lived in a rickety, leaky coop that I built myself (suffice it to say I'm no handyperson) and they did just fine.
What would you do to strengthen it? How would you attach the doors? I'm super-excited about the potential -- it's even got nesting boxes already!
I'm thinking:
corrugated plastic roof
mount one of the doors with a gap covered by hardware cloth for ventilation
maybe add some plywood to the back for more protection
Any other ideas? Has anyone ever done this -- turning furniture into the coop?
