This listing is for 20 Black Copper Marans day-old chicks!

These babies are expected to hatch on April 25. I ship via USPS expedited services so the chicks will arrive within 1-2 mornings later depending on your location.

Our Black Copper Marans are of the Wade Jean C1 bloodlines which yield the nice terra cotta colored eggs. Our flock is closed, so these birds have not been exposed to any other Marans bloodlines. Some of our eggs are solid, some appear to be "painted," and some are speckled.

This stock truly has a gentle temperament. My kids can even handle the roosters.

Feathering on the shanks meets the French Standard, not too heavy, not light, but moderate. Perfect for a breeding program, personal pets, and to add those beautiful and SUPER FUN dark shades to your egg basket! The kids will LOVE them!

Our flock has been tested and approved by the Texas Pullorum-Typhoid Program. As required by law, I will provide you with a copy of this report.

My shipping fees includes expedited shipping rates through the USPS (which usually delivers in a day but can take two days depending on your location) and the cost of the chick shipping box.

I accept payment via Paypal and will need a current confirmed address as well as a phone number for the post office to call you at when the chicks arrive. The chicks will be HELD AT THE POST OFFICE for you to come pick up so that they do not have to spend several more hours in transit on a mail truck.

I have included photos of my actual birds and eggs so that you can see how beautiful and healthy they are.

Even though the flash washes the eggs out in this one, I included it because it really shows the variety of design we get from our BC Marans. Also, it reminds buyers that these hens' laying cycles determine how dark their eggs are. We get both really dark and much lighter eggs daily, depending on the individual hen, how old she is, and what season it is.

Please contact me with any questions. First come, first served. Once these sell, anyone else interested can be put on a waiting list for my next hatch on May 4th.

Thanks!

It's hard to tell from the pic but the roo's eye color looks correct but is the hen's black? It may just be my monitor or the camera flash etc. Thanks

must have been the camera angle. I just went out and looked at them. Some of the hens' eyes are identical in color to the roo and some of their eyes are a shade or two darker of the same color. Definitely not black though. Hope that helps!

Babies are anxiously awaiting a new family in the incubator! Will ship out today at 4 pm with a paypal payment!

I can even sweeten the deal for anyone who's zipcode is only one day from me via express mail instead of two.

Our Ameraucanas always hatch out at the end of the 20th day and the marans at the end of the 21st day. So, I've got a handful of unreserved Ameraucanas that I'll throw in for free so I won't have to sell them locally. Not sure what'll hatch, but maybe a couple wheaten. The rest are the offspring of our wheaten roo over black hens. They are from Jean (Pips & Peeps) but my rooster's legs aren't slate and disqualify him from show. (he's still GORGEOUS though!) They still have those awesome blue/green egg genes -for anyone wanting color in their basket.

Deana,
the babies are on the way! I added some apple slices since the journey will be long and sent two extra BC Marans chicks just in case there are any casualties along the way. The Pullorum-Typhoid report is in an envelope taped to the bottom of the box. I hope you enjoy this breed as much as we do!

Thanks so much!

Thank you! We have been wanting some for a while, can't wait!

My boys got up at 5 am on a school day without complaint....b/c the truck runs at 6 and they sat by the phone until 7:30, then sadly got in the car. Just as we pulled into the school my phone rang. NO FAIR MOM! I want to be a grown up so I can stay home all day and play with babies!!!! lol all 22 arrived safely and are happily eating and drinking. They smell like cider. :

Thanks for sending the apple it had really been pecked over and kept them going. There were bad storms here last night so I worried about them.

Deana,
So glad they arrived safely! We've gone into school late a time or two on arrival day so I can totally relate! Poor Boys! What torture!

Hope y'all enjoy them! I let my kids hold ours when they watch cartoons from day 1 so that they are tame and still let us easily handle them when they are grown.

Close up of one of the lighter eyed girls. Excuse her "shabbiness," she's in mid molt right now!

I'm excited. Wanted to take baby pics & store them but it is really storming here & has been for several days. Will be fun to watch them grow and try to figure out how many of each we have. My youngest one said "Look Mama! This one has a mustache on his feet!" lol
