Two 26-30 week old hens lay 1-2 eggs last week, haven't layed since.

Our first two hens to lay, an Ameraucana layed last Sunday and Tuesday and a RIR hen layed her first egg last Wednesday.

Both haven't laid since, neither has our Cuckoo Maran, other RIR, Buff Orp, and Barred Rock all also 25-30 weeks old.

Anybody have any idea what is going on or if this is normal when they first start laying?

Currently they are on BlueSeal Grower-CAL formular still (because there are much younger birds outside with them) supplemented with Flax Seed and Calcium Grit all over the run and in the feed.

I'm new at this, and I'm seeing the same thing on a smaller scale than you-- we think our 23 week old BR laid an egg (it was either her or one of the sex-links, which are much smaller and only 18 weeks) on Saturday and didn't get an egg Sunday or yet today (I know it's early). I've spent a long time on BYC looking at other people's posts about egg-laying and it seems quite common for hens to have "false starts" and especially with the heat of summer going on right now. My uneducated advice is to continue to hang in there... laying eggs is what hens do and soon you'll probably have more eggs than you know what to do with!
