Two eggs formed into one?

My RIR, Sahara, has been laying for about 3 weeks and about a week ago she layed a HUGE egg, probably 3, maybe 3 1/2 inches long, usually we're lucky to get 1 1/2 inch long ones!, and when we cracked it open we found two separate egg "compartments" like the clear thin skin usually around the egg was between the two yolks. She also has had 2 or 3 double yolkers since she started laying. Is this normal for a new layer?

Yep, no worries from what I've heard. It just takes some gals a little longer to get all the kinks worked out in the system.
