Each night I set my small Hav-a-Hart trap in the pen by the barn and usually have a Norway or a Water Rat in it by morning. Tonight while I was closing up the other pens I heard the trap snap shut, & heard sounds of scurrying from it.

When I looked inside, there were TWO small grey Norway rats trapped inside! I'm sure it's not a record of any sort, but it is the only time I've caught more than one rodent at the same time in one trap.

Has anyone else had this happen? Have you caught more than 2 in 1 trap?

I caught 3 chickens in my live trap at once with no bait.

I have a flock of bantams that roost in the trees and are always awake to roam the yard before I get up. There are often little hens in the big traps, chomping away at the cat food, if they're left untripped by sunrise.

I've been placing a spoonful of scratch feed or just cracked corn on the trigger plate of my small trap, it seems to be attractive to the rats. You can mix it with peanut butter or even dampened chicken feed to make it stick better on the plate. But I have been just carefully placing the loose grains on the plate and getting lots of catches.

We weren't trying to catch pests, just two six week old feral kittens. We caught them both in the same racoon trap and socialized them. They are now both spayed and are the two best barn cats ever!

Like you, had two mice dead..one in the trap and the other laying next to it. Told folks as they got up in the morning we had a murder suicide.
