I come home to find a mom had pecked two of her babies. One has an injury to her face and the other has no feather on her back. I am putting them in the incubator until hubby gets home. What can I do to help them? I have wound spray....will that work for the baby with no feather on back. She is quite spunky....so want to give her a chance.
Thank you,
Tracy

Boil some water and salt together to make a Saline rinse. Let cool completely off. (Place in fridge or freezer to cool off faster) Gently poor the Saline on the chick's back. Apply some Neosporin with pain reliver on both chicks wounds. Keep injured chicks together, but if possible, keep their brooder dark so they can't see to peck each other. Clean wounds with Saline rinse 1-2 times a day and more if wound gets dirty. They'll be fine, but the bald backed chick will always need a saddle to protect her back. Keep all and any chicks away from mother. Some hens don't do good with chicks, so it's always good to watch mommy for the first couple of days.
