Well #1 is just a funny issue. I found an egg in my chickens feed dish this morning. LOL The dish in a metal round cake pan. They destroyed those cheapie tin foil ones. And managed to get in down into the run which I can't get to because of deep snow pack. This dish I have trigged so they can't get it downstairs. They managed to loosen it and got it into one of the nest boxes. Funny thing is this was not a nest box they usually use. OMG

#2. Could my SLW 28 week old be broody. I found her just now in the the favorite nest box sitting with another egg. Not her's. I think she might just be in there to lay her own egg. She's wasting her time, I tried to tell her that and I got the evil eye. I took the egg and it was warm. Don't know if it just got laid or she was keeping it warm.

Not really terrible issues I guess after all. :th:idunno

The egg thing might be because they are eating them. Have you found yolk on any of their beaks? The other issue, some of mine do that. I would put an egg next to her and see if she pulls it under her.

They aren't eating. I think her favorite nest box was occupied so she used the other one and the pan happened to be in there. I put three good sized nails in the wall and wedge the cake pan under them. I probably didn't get the pan in tight. Most times I find eggs in only one nest box. Three yesterday morning. But one day I found an egg in each of the three. Traffic jam I guess.

I just went back out and the SLW laid her own egg. I can tell their eggs ( I have 2 SLW) as they are cream colored but my BO and ISABrown lay brown eggs. One slightly darker that's my BO.
