I have multiple questions about these two. These are from our first batch of chicks. We got 4 Leghorns and 4 silver laced Wyandottes for our first animals for our new farm. 1 of the leghorns is in perfect health and looks great as well as the 4 Wyandottes. The other three grew extremely fast and had trouble walking for a while. It started with 1 getting a bloody butt and losing most of its tail feathers. We figured it had been picked on and we separated it for a few days. Then over the span of a few weeks, the other two large leghorns got bare, bloody butts. One of them ended up dying. We still have two left. At this point we are sure 1 is a rooster and the other is a hen. They both have little to no tail feathers, no bloody butts but really no feathers seem to be growing back. During this whole ordeal (about 2 months now) they have had terrible diarrhea. We have wormed them, given them apple cider vinegar, electrolytes. Everything we could think of based on what we've read online. At this point we have 23 other healthy chicks (we've bought two more batches) so we are pretty sure it's not contagious and only is affecting the oversized leghorns. And when I say oversized, I mean like 10-15 lbs at 5 months old. do you guys have any suggestions or insight into these guys? Why would they have grown so quickly? What would cause the feather loss and diarrhea?
