So I found these two pigeons (in two diffrent towns) in a flock of city ferals and recognized them as lost domestic birds. The first one pictured i named Julian. What caught my eye about him was his crest and slightly muffed feet. he was skin and bones when I found him, his keel bone protruding far from his little body. he was so hungy i could easilly pick him up while he was eating some bread.

The other i named Aubern, i found him foraging under a dumpster. he had a rubber band and human hair stuck around both feet, and one of his back toes is dead and black from lack of circulation, but i got to the other ones in time, and after about two weeks he isnt limping hardly at all! hes alot more brown then you can see in the pic, and hes got kinda long-ish legs compared to my rollers and homers.

So any idea what breed they might be? thanks for your time!

I would say that top one is some kind of High-flier, the bottom one, IMO, is a Homer. Beautiful one I might add. I would bet almost 100% on that. Or a Homer cross. BTW, good rescue.

Good to know, thanks for replying. they are both settled to my loft and happily flying free with the others and putting on weight.

first one looks a lot like indian fantail mixes ive seen, maybe with capuchine or other show breed. second a roller/pouter mix, maybe with or homer instead of one or other two. beautiful. i have had mixes of rollers, and mixes of fantails that look like them. very hardy and pretty. mate the one if its a cock especially to one of your rollers, and see if its got any hidden good genes, as ive found with show rollers and mixes, were parents didnt roll hardly or badly, but young from them spin like tops and pinwheels ect.. lol. pigeon genetics can be a craps game and apparently the genes can be dormant in one, or both parents, but come out really strong in their young. two of best breeder cocks of great roller young rarely roll, but produce the best roller babies, as some decent roller cocks seem to produce just decent offspring..

I would breed him to one of my rollers, but hes already paired with a white homer. I havent seen either of them roll yet, but maybe its resesive like you were saying.. thanks for the info!
