I open up the run door at least once a day and the brave birds come out to play for a little while. The problem comes when it's time to go back in. One of the girls flaps her wings and rushes me. Not one of the boys. The boys are well behaved with me. But she is a jerk, with the boys and me. This morning I flapped back and rushed at her. She turned her butt around and ran back to the coop. The other jerk is my smart chicken. She is always the last back in and she has me out there running in circles. This morning she would stop and I swear she was laughing. It sounded like "hahaha." When I asked her if she was laughing at me she did it again and took of running again. Why can't those two be nice like my other chickens? Why do they have to be jerks!?!

Careful you don't teach them this is the way to go back in. Will they go on their own if you wait til later? Or, try bribery instead.

The flapper goes in, she just thinks she needs to make a statement first. The runner thoroughly enjoys this game. Even inside the run I must chase her. If I don't she keeps coming back to me and taking off running until I give in and chase her. I think she likes the attention. She is even worse about it if I'm holding one of the other chickens. If I walk away instead of chasing her she follows me. Been like this since she was in the brooder. Ornery little cuss! She's kinda my favorite though.
