I have 2 opal males both are late hatch 09 and two 09 opal hens the male are displaying for hens but neither one has any kind of tail I mean no eyes in there tail do you think I will get fertile eggs from them? I was planning on waiting and checking fertility but I had a SP male at 2 years of age with no eyes in tail and never got a fertile egg from him until he was three. If eggs are not fertile I have three other males which one do you think would be the best one to put hens in with. Black shoulder male (7 years old) which I think you would classify as a seiple because he has a few white feathers in middle of his wing, BS silver pied (4 years old) and a BS purple that might be split pied as he was from purple pied eggs I bought from deerman on here he is only two but he has a beautiful tail for a 2 year old.
I have an extra purple hen and I have her in with my BS SP male would the chicks from her be? I have two yearling males Dark pied purple and a Purple pied and was wondering if her hen chicks would be good ones to save to mate with these two male.
Started with a pair 8 years ago that my grandson wanted me to get now up to 15 and 4 breeder pens and as you can see planning on another pen and have been looking for some bronze eggs or chicks and have ordered a white eyed purple and another SP chick from a breeder.

If the boys have no eye feathers they are most likely not fertile yet. You might want to put those opal hens with your BS purple as you will then get sex linked chicks.

The BS SP male X purple hen would give you IB split BS split SP split purple chicks, you might get a couple white eye chicks too. If you then wanted to breed this offspring to one of the purple yearling you have, you would get some purples.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

If you are are looking for bronze eggs, we'll have some available this spring, PM for info.
