First- what do you do with your soiled bedding? Do you throw it in the trash? Burn it? Something else?
Also- what have you found to be the best coop siding? We are turning an old run we got into a coop with run. What ever we get for siding will go over top of a larger size of hardware cloth.

Can we say compost pile for the soiled bedding. Nothing better than chicken poop and straw or pine bedding or what ever you use for conpost. If you don't need it any of your friends that have a garden should love it.

siding depends on your budget and aesthetics. i have used old road signs and end cuts from milling. both free and worked great for me (free was a priority).

We have used all kinds of things for siding. This go round we splurged and purchased nice stuff that looks like wood panels, it's primed but needs to be painted. Think we paid about $15/sheet for it at Home Depot. Used 6 of them, which came to about $96 I believe. Like I said, we splurged this time. The rest of this coop was pretty much freebies or deep discounts from Lowes, etc. Hubby salvaged some 100 year old barn lumber for free that it is framed with. Still has a nice tobacco aroma to it when it gets humid (old tobacco barn lumber). Curing tobacco smells heavenly. Then a neighbor had a barn get blown down a few years ago and gave us a some more free lumber. Have to get all the sill nails out of it, rip some to make them the correct size, but hey, free is better than spending a fortune. There are a few other items we have had to purchase new but most have been cheap. The 1 x 2 x 8 cost .79 cents at Home Depot, thinner plywood cost about $12 a sheet.

Here is a picture of the work in progress.
