We got (what we thought) were 13 baby hens. 6 Amberlinks, 6 Ameraucanas, and 1 Rhode Island Red. They are all very friendly (about 8 weeks old now). Now that they are becoming more individual from one another, I believe we may have 1 Amberlink rooster and the Rhode Island Red May be a rooster. I have no clue for the Ameraucanas because they all look different... Any help would be appreciated. Plus any suggestions or thoughts on two roosters? When would we see competitiveness start to surface?

There is absolutely no doubt they are boys.
You cannot keep two roosters with 11(?)hens.
You will have to pick one of them.

Personally, I’d keep the RIR because you only have one of them. You have 5 amberlink hens (unless there’s a hidden roo.)

On the other hand, you could have pure amberlink babies if you kept that roo. Personality can be a factor too.

Thank you. Based on my very basic understanding, Amberlinks even bred among only other Amberlinks will not create pure Amberlinks due to the way they are genetically. I will try to get individual pics of the Ameraucanas tomorrow.

Oh true, I didn’t even think about that.

What makes you think the first is a male? Trying to see how we can try to identify for better results in the future. Your help is really appreciated.
