Hello! I have 8 beautiful chicks who are now two weeks old.
I was researching chickens for about a year before finally getting the chicks, so I've been visiting BYC for a while. I've learned a lot here.
I'm the first person I know to get chickens, so I have to learn the hard way. It is exciting for me to have my extended family and circle of friends to go through this with me, though. They are all eager to see if this works out well or if a fox will eat the all the chickens! (I'm eager to see that, too, but trust me that my husband is working on keeping those foxes out!)
I first got interested in raising chickens because my children really wanted pets, but my husband did not. Chickens are the perfect solution because they can be pets, but they also give back: they'll provide eggs and some much-anticipated gardening help for my husband. He is happy, my children are happy, and I am loving the peeps so far.
