There's a small lump in the left side of my hens abdomen. It's easy to feel when I pick her up, it's about the size of one of her eggs. It's a hard lump and it dosen't seem to be hurting her at all when I feel it.
She is a d'Uccle bantam and she turns two years old in July. She has never had a health issue, she's always been in top top shape.
She seems completely healthy, acting completely normal, lays eggs regularly, but this lump is still obviously very worrisome.
I'm just monitoring it, I'm wondering if since she's so small I'm feeling a developing egg or something?
She's one of the few chickens I have that I'm willing to take to the vet, but it's a very bad time financially.
So in the meantime I'm just looking for general knowledge about the different kinds of lumps and bumps they can get.

I would wonder if it was her gizzard that you are feeling?

Possibly? It seemed a bit further back than the gizzard should be. I also went ahead and felt six of my other birds and didn't feel anything like that in the area, I've also never noticed anything like this on her in the past.
Again I'm just observing her, I'll be keeping a close eye on the lump and her behavior, I've just never dealt with anything like this.

Hens can develop masses inside the lower abdomen from salpingitis and tumors. But if she is acting normally, it may be nithing to worry about.
