Hi all! I'm in southeast PA and started my chicken adventure two years ago. I planned to start with four, but they're just so cute and I wanted a good egg palette so I ended up with eight. The number has fluctuated a little between one being a rooster we had to rehome, taking in a few strays, and losing a couple to hawks. This year I decided to top off the flock with two more (ended up with four, but don't tell the township). We have Brenda the Barnevelder, Alex the silver-laced Wyandotte, Vanessa the buff cochin (who's handicapped, but seems happy since we rescued her from a farm), Grimm the Australorp, Caroline the Speckled Sussex, Stella the olive-egger, and our favorite - Tabitha the Brabanter. I have vowed to own Brabanters for the rest of my chicken-owning life. Tabitha is the sweetest, sassiest, smartest people-chicken I'm sure ever existed. Our new babies are Easter-eggers Rose and Ruby, Claudia the blue cochin, and T-Rex the black copper Marans. T-Rex got his name because his feet grew faster than the rest of him. We're pretty sure he's another roo, but he's super sweet and seems a little "special" so we'll keep him around until he starts to crow and the neighbors insist he goes. Anyway, that's our flock! Glad to be here because I have so, so much to learn!
