I have a 3 yo peahen that has signs of mycoplasma or other respiratory illness. Eyes have mucus and mucus in nasal passages. I was hoping to get some good information on using antibiotics, especially Tylan 200 and baytril. I have heard negative things about using tylan 200 as an injection. So I have given 2.5 ml orally for 3 days. There's has been signs of improvement but not like I'd like to see. So after a day of no treatment I gave her another 2.5 ml orally and put 5 ml in their water which is probably half of a gallon (she shares a pen with a peacock that is also starting to show signs of mycoplasma). Baytril should arrive in the mail tomorrow but was hoping for advice on my treatment methods. Do I need to worry about over medicating orally with tylan 200? Anybody have experience using tylan 200 for pea fowl and respiratory illness. Thanks and God bless

The Baytril dose is 4.54 mg per pound twice a day. If you have the 10% Baytril that's 0.045 ml per pound twice a day.

The Tylan 200 dose is 0.08 ml per pound three times a day or 0.0625 ml per pound four times a day.

Thanks for your advice. They aren't deathly I'll. But I certainly don't want to lose either of them. My males one eye is starting to swell some. Do you think I should wait and see how he does? Or go ahead and start treating him
I use a bathroom scale with mine. I weigh myself, the weigh myself holding the bird. The difference is the bird's weight.
