Hey all! We are still battling this sickness after 5 days of tylan 50 injections. The hens are SIGNIFICANTLY better but not 100%. One still has a mild cough and another's eye is still a little gunky. Should we continue to administer meds or have we reached the maximum dose? I'm amazed at how much spunk they have gotten back this far!

It's best not to go beyond 5 days when injecting tylan because if the respiratory disease symptoms havnt subsided or stopped, it means it could possibly be a viral disease or fungal issue in which tylan would be ineffective. Or there could be a resistant strain of bacterial respiratory disease to the tylan and if this is the case, another type of antibiotic would be required, perhaps baytril would be a your next step since there's been improvement with the tylan.
Did you smell a foul odor around the head area prior to treating your birds with the tylan? If so, it could be coryza. Sulmet in combination with tylan will treat coryza, if that's what it is.

Thanks Dawg53! I was hoping you'd chime in! I only noticed that the hen who had the infected eye smelled 'bad'. All three hens have had different symptoms.
Hen 1- original carrier- closed eye with gunk, very tired/depressed, pale comb, slightly smelly
Hen 2- cough/gurgle, tired/depressed, gasping, low appetite, yellow/watery poo
Hen 3- tired/depressed
If they aren't 100% at this point should we move on or give it more time?
