My vet advised I use Tylan powder, added to my flocks water, during times of potential weather stress, I.e. Drastic temperature changes.

My question is...what dosage should I be giving and for how long? I have a 2lb water bowl and six hens. I'm not getting a straight answer from the vet office as this vet isn't in for a while.

I've not used Tylan powder before but since it seems as if it is an antibiotic powder from what I've read, I personally would not use it. Instead, I would look to use something else that would help support their immune system without antibiotics like a combo of Hydro hen and nutridrench.

What's the reason your Vet suggested Tylan for times of stress? Does your flock have respiratory disease like Mycoplasma and dosing them with Tylan will help prevent symptoms?
If that's the case, then you may want to consider using Tiamulin (Denagard). Some people that have MG positive flocks give Tiamulin for 3 days each month as a maintenance to help reduce symptoms within an MG Positive flock.

Not sure about a 2lb (pound) water bowl and how much that holds. Tylan Powder dose is 1teaspoon Tylan to 1gallon of water.

One of my hens nearly died from respiratory distress over the summer and the vet said it's mycoplasma. He said the whole flock likely has it and recommended Tylan powder.

What would Denaguard do, exactly and would it be safe for everyone?

Maybe you need to stick with Tylosin Powder since your vet recommended it.

Tiamulin (Denagard) treats symptoms of MG in Poultry.
