Today my 1 month and 23 day old chick Tyson died. He was killed by my sisters dog! Then the dog later in the day was let off her leash and almost killed my chicks mother! Worst day of my life. I was Balling for 2 hours! I would like for people who have lost a chicken resently and tell me how to get over it.

The worst part is i foud him before the dog finished him off picked him up and he spassed out and i caught a glims of fear in his eye then he died in my hands at less than 2 months old.
my sister is lucky i stayed away from her dog!

Sorry for your loss.If sis let the dog loose again I would make sure it disappeared.Roamers disappear all the time.Tyson was cute.

Tough getting over a loss, but harder when it was a violent death.I just focused on those left.We talk about funny things the dead ones used to do.Afterall they each had their own personalities. We plan to get more. Those things help.

Protect your chickens in a secure run, because chances are your sister will let her dog loose.

now i sad but still mad!

Revenge won't make you feel any better. You just have to remember the happy time you had with your bird. Trust me I have had lots of deaths occur.....not just pets but family.

Allow the grief and bring in some new chicks. Having new life around helps when a chick dies.
Agreed, it takes your mind of things and you can concentrate on the new chicks growing up. Sometimes it helps to do something in remembrance of him. Like my Tinkerbell passed away and I plan to name of her sisters offspring "Belle" after her. Another hen of mine passed away and I'm going to plant a cherry blossom tree near her grave in honor.

It really sucks when dogs get out, I've had the same thing happen and it is horrific.

RIP Tyson

my acsidental revenge made me feel bad. and i am getting new chicks hatching some but i also want new blood so any good hatchrys near dayton ohio? I built a cross and planted some of his favorate flowers on his grave.

I think Meyer Hatchery is in Ohio.... and I ordered from McMurray the last time and only had three losses out of 30. They are in Iowa.
And btw I don't think peroxide does much harm other than making dogs throw up. I read somewhere that if a dog eats chocolate or something and you give him peroxide it'll make them throw it up. That's just what I read, it may not be true.
