Cliff notes...

Chicken didn't come home last night, found her this morning in the field sitting still.

She could not walk. I put her in the corner of coop gave some d-10 in water. She perked up a bit. Went back out tonight and her body is a bluish green color, and her but end bright pink. I found what feels like a pocket of air under her left wing, at the knee of her left leg. When I push on it, it feels like I could just put a pin in and pop it.

She is struggling to breath much now. She can not extend her left leg. Any ideas?

How old is she? ... that's so sad... something really bad must have happened... any predators around??

Anything she might have ingested (some kind of poison)? I'd keep her warm and just wait, unless you can take her somewhere to get her checked...

Hope someone w/ more experience or that has a better idea of what could have happened writes soon :S

The guy I bought her from said a year (2.5 months ago) - but he's a very shady man, so she could really be any age.

I have her in a separate small coop I put some shavings and some water with antibiotics. I have a feeling though, she will not be with me in the morning.

I have no idea what this air could be. Additionally - I guess it could have been a predator - could have been one of my horses? There are NO marks at all on her body from any predator, but they do go out in the corn field during the day. She had no signs of sickness yesterday during the day.

Her body is REALLY hot - almost sweaty for lack of a better word. Since she has hardly any feathers I can feel her skin all over when I hold her. Trust me, it's gross!

Her belly and all around her butt end are soft and squishy - and as I said, her body is a bluish green color now :(

This is just a guess... could it be a horse accidentaly stepped on her? That would explain her body being blue, soft and her butt area pink cause the blood moving towards that area... Maybe she's got some broken bones at the chest area that affect her breathing also... if she's got internal bleeding that'd lead to some of the symptoms you mention...

I think you are doing exactly what you can and should do... making her as comfortable as you can while things are sorted out... I have had a couple chicks survive very bad bruising and health issues... some don't...

I am sorry... just wait. Time will tell...
