so dad was unsure about how many chicks we ordered (mum told me how many and of what she wanted) he thought id spent $50 on 5 chicks, i told him hed be insane to think that lol...
so we explained that due to min order shipping theres 11 comming...
mum then explained that my sisters frined who has a farm on the other side of town will likely buy some of the extras and id probably try to sell the rest of the extras on here...
to which he replied "why?"
mum told him that we can only legally have 5...
his reply "whos going to know?!"

LMAO...
there not even here yet and were already trying to justify keeping more.

the coop will be big enough for 8...
the tun big enough for 10 easily.

so i told him, since we want a mixed flock well see what happens when they get here, get them through the first few weeks when there most vunerable...
and take our one of each breed like we planned, then see which ones my sisters freinds want, and whoevers left over ill see if anyone here on BYC local wants to exchange any of the extras for breeds we were also interested in but didnt get because we thought we were going to do just the 5...

he seemed ok with that lol...

my dad is the LAST person in this family i thought was going to have "get more chicken-itis"
im actually realy suprised he whent along with this in the first place but he seems genuinly excited about it...WOOT!

im so glad i dont have that problem..i live out in the county (: its nice
and the same goes for my step dad
he was aginst getting chickens in the first place
but now he'll sit behind my mom and point out which breed he wants

now hes talking about keeping them ALL...i explained in that case its an entire redesign, which would mean bumping to an 8 x 6 coop...our planned run will still be more than big enough but we dont realy have a way of cutting large sheets of play to add the extra 2 feet on either end...
im wondering if lowes or home depot would actually cut the plywood for us, i know some places do...if i could get them to rip a sheet for us we may end up keeping all the chicks (as long as none of them die or are male...)

again...
this is DADS idea lol.
mums saying 8.

funny part is, tonight dad was talking to his mother back in the UK and mentioned something about getting things ready to build a chicken coop...turns out my nan kept chickens back when he was a toddler, hed forgotten all about it.
he finds it kind of funny that hes come full circle.

this is also the guy who keeps telling us "no more pets" but these guys make eggs and eat bugs so there ok lol
