Hi.. It's me Davlyn the newbee... I have a frizzle chicken ( well 3 all 2gether ) This one chick has always looked ill. She is still so small. I got them in mid August. She is still so small. Should I B worried ?? she eats well & drinks well. Runs around & does her chicken thing well. But she is sooo small. This is the chick I had to go & pick up every nite for a few months & put her in the coop. I think she is a handi cap chick, if there is such a thing. I feel so bad 4 her. She is the light of my chickens.. I call her FeeFee, lol. What would B a reason why this chick is staying so small ?? Not growing well ?

I had one that was a lot smaller then all the rest, I worried she would be walked on, she ate and drank water and acted fine but she was very small. A few weeks went by and she just seemed to catch up, like when they were 6mo old or so. I just remember thinking that all of a sudden I couldn't tell them apart anymore. So may yours will too.

Make sure she is getting her turn at the feeder, and not being bullied away by the others. Make sure she has a full crop of food at night when she goes to roost. If she isn't getting enough food, you may want to hand feed her daily, or add another feeder. You could also try giving her a couple of drops every day, of ply-vi-sol by her beak, in case she has a deficiency. Check her droppings to make sure she doesn't have diarrhea--could be a sign of worms. And of course look carefully for mites and lice.
