I've hatched about 80 chicks so far this year, and have had 6-7 occurences with unhealed navels. The mildest case I was able to save, but the others died. Last year I hatched about 30 Guinea keets and 40 hybrid chicks, and didn't have a one that did this. This year I'm hatching eggs from a BO roo and BO/BR hens. All of the unhealed navel chicks were purebred Orps. Could this be hereditary? I don't think the conditions in the bator are any different than last year... Thanks for any info!
