Hello,
I have 2 six-month old hens that developed some cuts on their feet in the last day or so. They do not appear to be scaly mites, but I'm not sure if / how to treat these wounds.
TIA!

Hi!

Have you figured out what they're getting the cuts from? I would suspect chicken wire, but I see you have hardware cloth.

If you have Vetericyn spray, you can just spray their wounds as that cleans and is antimicrobial.

If not, I'd just soak the worst ones a few minutes in Epsom salts, dry, and put a thin layer of triple-antibiotic ointment on them, then back with the flock.

They should heal up fine!

Not 100% sure I know how they're getting cut. I just did a little renovation to the area of hardware cloth overlap they may be getting cut on. Hopefully that's it, otherwise, I'm stumped. Thank you for the advice!

It seems like they might be getting caught on something. Do you have an idea of what this could be from in their run?
I can only think of one place this may be happening, and made repairs this evening. Hopefully that will prevent future cuts. Thank you for the advice!

Ah, yes. I'd go around where you put it as the edges of HWC are very sharp. So sharp, many companies send gloves with for handling it.

Hopefully that addresses it. I would look at the entire fence and check that nothing is sticking out at their level in case you haven't already.
