Hi all, I have a rooster, age 1.5 years, a Swedish Flower chicken. He is very protective and fertile with my hens, but he hates me and is always looking for an opportunity to flog me. Recently acquired 5 more heritage roosters, who are now breeding. I watch them all the time and have not seen the Swedish roo interact with these 5 juveniles at all, or my dogs. Yesterday I noticed that the Swedish roo is missing a lot of feathers from his neck, like he is molting, and his wings are drooping, like he is stressed. The top of his comb is also bruised. Other than that he was doing his normal rooster routine today. Any ideas what this could be?

Please post some photos of the rooster.
Thank you.

Hi, I have not had a chance yet. Thank you for your concern. I believe that is it indeed molting, since the feather loss is patterned and symmetric, and the feathers are growing back.
