How fortunate! Ducks and cats have such compatible personalities, only both personalities include getting freaked out when friendships present themselves ha ha. My old fiesty Siamese from long ago loved going out on the kayak but was petrified when the ducks would swim up. My present tabby went from 'I gotta kill 'em" to quite curious then almost had his eye pecked out so no to duck friends. My 12 yr old head kitty starts every friendship by attacking 'her to be' friends. After watching our 3 ducklings become ducks she decided to approach and show 'em whose boss around the pond. At 5' distance she turned sideways, arched her back, and puffed a bit. The 3 hen ducks stared, "what the heck" so 1, LuRoy, saundered kitty's way. Head cat closed in a foot or more, a little less certain as to how it'd play out. Then all 3 together, they are like minions, waddled straight to kitty and almost had her surrounded. Well that was that as kitty fled the scene. So, our last possible cat duck pairing was our mellow Turkish kitty who is friends with the wild goose that comes to nest a few months every late winter. But these are preflight juvenile ducklings, and their thing is to spread an flap their sizable wings coming over to ya'; it was too much oh well.
As to your 2, Humphrey Bogart said in Casa Blanca, "It looks like the start of a beautiful friendship."
