Unsureof this breed any help or guesses

one of my friends recieved this bird it is 3 years old and she does not know the breed she aquired it from a friend.I though maybe a SFH but then i didnt know because they were just brought to the US in 2010 so i dont know now i think maybe just a mix breed

might be a red sexlink roo but he looks to have leg mites

looks like he is the product of 2 red sex links being breed together and he has some very bad leg mites which could also mean that he has lice as well or maybe a few mites may have traveled with him though they only feed at night and do not live on the bird like leg mites which live under the scales of the legs and lice live on the bird. best treatment for them that i have found is vetRX

Wow, he is gorgeous! You could also try wiping him down with cooking oil to suffocate any lice. Worked great for a pullet of mine.

Vaseline or Nustock on the legs will cure leg mites. Scaly leg mites is quite easy to treat. Smother the mites, wait for scales to fall off and regrow.. That's it.


As for breed, he looks mixed.
