my chickens are in a coop with a run and i feed them layer mash. lately since i am off i have been there to let them free range.

I've noticed that that some of their droppings are rather large-but normal looking and also some are a dark green color or a white and watery looking.
Could it be because they've been free ranging and eating other things or could it be serious?
Thanks!

There is a "poop" page on here somewhere- but your description sounds like normal range to me. If they are suddenly eating a lot of green stuff and bugs, the poop will be less "uniform" than just eating pellets...Don't get nervous!

I have a few chickens with well formed but dark green poop. I just fed my flock some nice greens including fresh spinach. I read that your hens need greens to have enough B vitamins to have healthy chicks. I saw today that a disease called MS Myco... can also cause green poop in acute stages. Apparently almost all of our chicken arrive as chicks with this mycroplasma organism in their bodies and it does not bother them unless they get stressed. I am going to clean out the coop today (it has been two weeks) and see if I can unstress my birds. Other signs were depression, going off their feed(not hungry), and swelling in the legs even to the point of being lame.
Good luck!!
