Hello, I am new to this site and new to raising chickens. My friend gave me her 11 chickens when her husband passed away and she told me to get a rooster as a couple were wanting a boy. So far I am enjoying them, I am getting 4 eggs a day even with the move and changes. I would like to get to know more people that have weather like mine in Alberta Canada.

Welcome! Definitely you should get a rooster. They really brighten up the flock and take care of the hens.

I'm in eastern Ontario so I can sympathize with your weather. How long until the waterers don't freeze anymore? *sniff* Stupid winter. grumblegrumble.
