My coop isn't at ALL fancy like half of you have.... But I paid all of $11 for zipties, nails, and brackets. That's it!
My pack rat neighbor moved out and left all his junk so I picked through and got everything you see for free!
I will say, used chicken wire is a pain in the rear to re-use and straightening it after it's bent is awful.
I used a cabinet as one nesting area, it's slightly too small but I have no idea what type of birds my first batch are and they seem mighty small to me.
The second nesting area isn't finished yet, just needs the shelf and possible dividers put in... It's big.
I am also introducing 2 new babies in this post! I figured since many thought I have two roos that I'd get 2 more chicks so *fingers crossed* I'd have the original plan of 4 hens. I think I'm ALMOST understanding chicken math now...

Below is the original box the babies stayed in (unpainted thing) with my cabinet converted into nest boxes, an old blanket rack that the babies like to use as perches along with the palm frond that my little red fuzzy girl loves.

My homemade auto waterer out of an old tray and apple juice container, and homemade feeder out of an old butter lid and coffee "can" but they also have a bowl of food since my feeder is so small

My possible roo and baby Rhode Island Red

I attached the palm frond to a part of my garden bed. I'll be growing chicken friendly plants in the side of the bed that they have access to

Baby Barred Rock

My fuzzy red mutt

The fuzzies

And all the babies sleeping together after picking on each other all afternoon. Notice how the fuzzies are in a pile and the 2 newbies are stuck out.

More to come soon!

I guess it is slightly creepy. It's all shaded (the roof is actual roll up shades for patios/windows etc.). I didn't want the chicks to get too hot as we're already in triple digits here.
I suppose I could paint the fence and make it a lighter, happier color, but I prefer to old look to it. I love ghost ranch looking things (rusted metal pieces are my favorite).

I checked on the chicks this morning and all 6 are still in there so I think I did a good job. SO happy we didn't have any more escapees like my first try with the coop.
Worked on it for 7 hours in 90+ degrees yesterday.

I don't think it's creepy at all. Maybe it's because I'm also in Tucson and used to the way things are around here, but your coop has the perfect Tucson vintage!

I'm worried about monsoon season with the coop. Should I bring them inside and just let them out when it isnt raining?

Like, bring them inside your house for every storm? I think it would be a better idea to give them a place to get out of the rain in their coop/run.
