ANNOUNCING OlFashionHen has bugs

A few weeks ago I go to my cousins house to touch up her hair and cut her daughters for her upcoming wedding. She informs me as I begin to wet childs hair that they have been battling lice
th.gif
.
Oh But... everything and everyone has been treated. So I proceed to check the child. I found one large bug, well boogers I was already there, already used my comb etc. on her. So I pulled out bug checked more and nothing, so I threw everything in a bag and treated stuff and self as soon as I got home. No big deal. Anyhoo week later .. I do lots of everybodies hair for wedding. I did not see any bugs on anyone, but somebody.... may not have been somones hair I did even .. had to have bugs (lice) because I have them now
he.gif
he.gif
somad.gif
. I am sooo mad I could bite nails in two.
My head itches like crazy, I have NEVER had lice in my life !!!
So now I get to treat my head, no one else in the house has it
hmm.png

just me (but everyone is getting treated anyway), I have to treat my whole house, the cars, and then of course my chickens !!! What about the chickens? I have six 2 week old chicks in the bathroom which I do my hair in
roll.png
, and 13 in the coop. I do use DE in my coop, and I see none of the chickens over-preening/scratching or anything
hu.gif
. I will check them to see if they are ok. I do not see a significant drop in egg production either. They will lay good a few days, then if it is real hot they may not lay as much, if the weather is comfortable everyone lays everyday. With the DE always in the coop do you think they need to be treated with sevins dust anyway?
hit.gif
... Somebody slap a moron sticker on my forehead and smack my rear on the way out for being such a dummy for doing their hair. I am never doing anyone elses hair other than my mom's anymore

( stop scratching your head )

Happy to report my DH, nor my DS had any bugs
roll.png
. just me! Anyhoo, washed, heated, treated, bagged, and vaccumed everything under the sun (including car) this weekend.

I would have my Dh pick and comb through my hair three times a day over the weekend (what a sweetie), though he still teased me for having bugs. And I am happy to report

.................................................... THERE AIN'T NO BUGS ON ME

Finally me head ain't ichin' to death anymore, just a little from reaction to licemd stuff

sensitive scalp.

I am still going to be overly cautious and keep treating with olive oil mix for a few days ending in a
semi-pemanant hair color (even though it will reak havoc on my scalp and surrounding face for a few days) to help keep this from happening again. To anyone that has never had lice before like me (which I am a known germaphobe in my family, whom in which they have really gotten a kick over my freak out of having bugs) you do not ever want them. Not fun at all... I hate them.

Thanks for all y'alls concern and advice , you can hang out with me again. No worries and stop scratchin' already mkay.

Oh hun... I feel your pain! DS brought lice home last year from school - they had an outbreak
rant.gif
and everyone BUT me had it in the house. I was FLIPPING out (i cannot stand ANY bug, not even a butterfly, nice to look at but gawd, dont land on me
gig.gif
). EVERYTHING in this house went into the washer, dryer and plastic bags for weeks at a time. I nearly broke my vaccuum cleaner! LOL! Mattresses, couches, rugs, floors, cat
lau.gif
you name it.. it got vaccuumed at least 12 times over - then steam cleaned on top of it...then washed and done all over again! Overkill - probably...but..again...its a bug thing *shivers* I even buzzed DS's head and gave him a USMC haircut and seriously contemplated shaving MINE LMAO! But.... didnt think I'd look good bald
wink.png
.

to this day when I see DS scratching his head or if my head itches... I immediately grab him and start looking or run the nit come through - just for good measure

I feel for ya....

are you sure that you have them...itching could be lots of things. I would have someone check you before I went through the whole process.

As a pre-school worker, I know how awful this can be.

Just from doing thier hair, you shouldnt have gotten lice. Unless you used those combs on yourself before you cleaned them and it sounds like you would never do that!

Lice will crawl but they dont usually move easily from person to person except by vehicle such as hat, comb etc.

Having spent countless hours in 'bug training' for work, I would really have someone check me before I went to all that work.

I am itching just thinking about it!

Crossing fingers that you have dry scalp, not critters!

My sister was kind enough to call and tell me all 4 of her boys had lice. This was after they had been in my sons room for about 30 minutes. I made an excuse and sent them home! Then ran out to by the lice shampoo.
sickbyc.gif

crikey you have gotten me itchy now, I hate bugs, all bugs......... but head lice really give me the creeps, so far so good none of us have evr had them!

hugs.gif
to you...

No, .... I'm sure it is lice, as a hairdresser I have seen it before, but have never had it. As soon as we see customer has bugs we ask them to step outside in which we inform them of the problem and that we will not be able to service them at the moment, come back in spray down chair, capes, towels, shampoo bowls etc., and drop all impliments in barbicide. I was combing my hair with a fine tooth comb to trim my ends this morning and pulled a bug to my ends in which I found ( yep .. it was a lice
hit.gif
). I usually use a wide tooth comb on my wet hair to keep hair from breaking. Then I ran upstairs and told my DH to look through my hair again for bugs (*TIP* you can see lice better if your hair is wet) and yep .. he started pulling some out.
hit.gif
.. Them darn tootin pesky nogood bloodsuckin varmints.
rant.gif

Sending hugs your way! We had it years ago when the kids were in daycare. To this day (a decade later!) when my head itches, it makes me wonder. . . . . . where have we been? Could it be lice????

Good luck, and do have someone check you before you commence with treating everyone and everything - maybe you'll get lucky and have a regular rash!
wink.png

ACK! Your last post was as I was posting. SORRY to hear that it's confirmed

Lots of Diet Coke and Chocolate will get you through the cleaning binge - keep us updated.

Go to walmart and buy the shampoo and the lice spray in the can. Wash everything you can possibly wash in the house in hot water. Spray the carpet and couch. That stuff is expensive but it's the only way to kill them. Good luck.

(insert pic of me laying on the floor .......... kicking, screaming, pounding, my fist, all while violently throwing myself in a whirl of circles HERE)
barnie.gif
... It seems they are in the Nymph stage .. google pics of lice
sickbyc.gif
, I can't stand it!!

YES all the spray, wash, everything will be scrubbed, dowsed, and made squeeky clean. No carpet in my house though only a few rugs. Oh now where is my cousin so I can rub my head on hers
tongue.gif

and stop scratching everybody!
