hey i have a chick hatching, this year hasn't been great. i have 1 that hatched last night, so the mum is just sticking with it and has left the rest. I need to sort out some kind of home made incubator??? to help the ones due to hatch NOW!
I have 1 that hatching and i have taken it to my room and put it I'm a warm box in the sun? should i help it out? he's struggling and taking very slow breaths and not moving a lot :(
although i know that it is bad to help them. just wondering if i should. its been over 20 hours at least since it started.
opinion PLEASE

*UPDATE*
have put the mother back to her nest and she is sitting on the rest of her eggs, her 1 chick and little hatching 1 :)
all is well for now thank you for your help and advice

Try to warm them up under a heat lamp or something, just make sure you can control and monitor the temp. You could also try moving the hen back onto the nest and taking her chick for a little bit to see if she sets again. I have had a broody hen who set eggs again while she was still caring for her 2 week old chicks, she was in the coop with the chicks looking around and she went up to the nest box she hatched the chicks from, she saw eggs in there and sat on them and would not leave until I forced her too. Every bird is different though, I also had a broody hen who ditched her chicks after 3 days of caring for them.

she's done this before :( i do have another broody hen? maybe worth putting them under her. little chick is getting cold :( and i don't have a heat lamp, will a warm hot water bottle do? i will go but the eggs under the other broody hen. if she doesn't want them ill try get the mother to go back on them
thanks

Does that other hen already have eggs under her, if so what day are they on? You could try putting all the eggs under her, including the hatching one, but once she hatches that chick she will not set for much longer so if you already have eggs under her maybe try putting the hatching one under her and then let it hatch, take it and give it to the original mom. If the original mom does not accept it then you will have to brood it yourself.

You can use a lamp with a bulb (40 - 60watt) with a wet sponge. Hatching takes time, don't rush it, they do rest in-between (hard work). You can also put a sock filled with uncooked rice, tied off, in the micro for a few minutes, think it works better than a water bottle, heat lasts longer. Just don't put the hatching egg too close to it (gets hot), add a wet sponge for humidity. If you have another broody, it may work but if she's sitting on eggs ... 2x Kessel23

If it has been 20 hours then I would be very surprised if they were still alive but somehow this hatching chick is so the other eggs might be too.

thank you both for your help :)
i have picked up the mother and her chick and put them on the eggs (hatching chick included ) and they seem content for now. she settled on them very fast, which I'm surprised about.
other broody hen does have eggs under her (a lot, i keep taking newly laid ones out)
and they have about a week to go. but she was my last resort :)
again thank you so much, i was a bit stuck there
