For being in such a hurry getting out of the membrane they are taking their sweet time making the big break

No external pips yet..sitting on my hands and just waiting

Still nothing

.. well not quite nothing. Their activity has increased significantly the last few hours and I can hear chirping now where I couldn't before. Mother nature do your thing!

Waiting is the hardest part. I usually take notes so I can time their hatching time line. Chirping is great, but you do want to see external pips within the next 24 hours. After external pip they still need 24-48 hours to get out. Watch out for large holes with a bill sticking out without any zipping progress. That is when you may need to help. Had to do that with my gosling. It is still the nerve wrecking phase for most of us. Lots of activity is good. Loud chirps is a sign of strong birds, at least to me it is. Can't wait to see pictures of them.

One of them seemed to be turned around in the shell (nose to the pointy end) when I went into lock down...will he be able to hatch himself that way?

2 of my ducklings in my last hatch were like that. I was lucky that they were last to get out the shell so I more or less hatched them myself. I took the shell most of the way back and peeled the outer membrane back but stopped once it bled a bit. Once he had some room to move and wriggle they were both out in less than an hour.

You may have to help the little guy along the way. Hard to tell what and when, but I think you will know when it is time to help. We will help you with advise as it goes along.
