UPDATED 6/9 CALLING ALL BLACK SHAMO OWNERS -- ROOSTER or HEN see pics

Thank you all.

This is so disappointing. He is the smartest, most curious of the bunch.

I found a farm in IN that willl take him and the other 2 roosters I have. Dropping them off this weekend, thats why I needed a quick answer.

As a side note, out of an order of 13 hens from Ideal this is the 3rd rooster. Thats a 23% failure rate. Very disappointed.

Thanx again,

David

Just as a little...*cough* hint.... the, I believe manager, of Ideal is on this website...

idealpoultry is her name.

Perhaps there is something going on in their lines that is making it increasingly difficult to sex the Shamo??? Makes one wonder if their workers are doing it on purpose or not....

Edited to correct the gender issue...

Yes, her user name here is idealpoultry (Teri Adcox). I suggest you send her a PM if that is where your birds came from. I'm sure she will help you to get this matter corrected in some way!

Ideal's website says 90% accuracy, but all they would do is credit me the difference between the cost of a male chick and a pullet. It is not worth the pennies to call them.

I ordered 13 birds 2 each of 6 breeds and the 1 Shamo.

3 out of 13 is 23% for the whole order.

or

1 of 2 Jersey Giants was a rooster = 50% fail
1 of 2 Buff Orps was a rooster = 50% fail
1 of 1 Shamo was a rooster = 100% fail.

I know sexing is not 100% nor guaranteed. Just disappointiing. .

Thanx,

David

I can appreciate your frustrations with it. But if no one ever said anything, they wouldn't know that one of the sexers is slacking or not doing their job right. Or the person pulling their orders. Saying something may help someone else down the line not get stuck in the same situation.

Now for the rest of the story....

Took the roosters to "Farmer Jim" who was happy to add to his very large flock. 50+ of various breeds and ages. Made me take a laying hen in trade "to be fair", and she has laid and egg everyday since I got her.

Ideal Poultry stepped up and made a generous offer to replace the roosters with new chicks. I had to turn it down due to my lack of available space and time limitations.

All in all, its a good ending.

Thanx again,

David
