Updated pics on Mystery Duckling. Maybe this will put us closer to I.D

Thought I would post a few better/more updated pics here to see if they help in getting this duckling ID'ed. So far I think we're stuck between Ancona/Magpie. Any difinitives would be awesome!!

Here they are exploring outside and having their first bath! Hopefully these show the size difference between the duckling and his/her Pekin buddy! His/neck is longer, but he's definitely a smaller duck.

And here's two of the Pekin just cause he's a poser!

def. not an ancona...maybe a swede mix...notice the tips of the wings are yellow right now and there is yellowing in between the toe bones...i think that is a swede thing...her is a link with some pics of pures

I think it's insane how hard it's been to ID this guy! lol The hatchery lists these ducks on their breeds:

Regular Breeds

White Pekin Duck
Rouen Duck
Khaki Campbell Duck


Rare Breeds

Ancona Duck
Cayuga Duck
Fawn Runner Duck
Blue and Black Swedish Ducks
Crested Duck
Welch Harlequin Duck

But he does not seem to fit any of those 100%. Closer to the Ancona than anything, but too small I thought...and he's obviously got a crested gene in there...

OH and that is the Hatchery he came from....but he looks more like the pics of their Anconas...maybe an Ancona and a Swede hopped pens? lol

I also think he is a swedish duck.

Hmmm, I guess I never considered Swedish as they seem to have mostly solid black heads, and his had so much yellow, also the beak and feet looked a little off.

Interesting, I guess not all ducklings meet breed "standard." In the end it does not really matter, we love them no matter what they are, just helps to know breed!!
